Ingredients
6 tablespoons of butter
1 cup of caster sugar
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups of self-raising flour
1/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
2 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup of milk
1/4 cup boiling water
Method
Beat butter and sugar to a cream. Add lightly beaten egg and vanilla. Beat well. Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda and cocoa three (3) times. Fold in dry ingredients alternatively with milk. Add boiling water and mix thoroughly. Pour into a well-greased cake tin. Bake in a moderate oven for 45 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Ice with chocolate icing. Yum!
